MASCA, BETWEEN RAVINES
Masca combines deep ravines, abrupt ridges and a historic hamlet. The famous gorge is a controlled experience and must be planned in advance.
Mandatory
- Closed mountain, trekking or trail footwear with deep tread; no sandals or everyday trainers. Clothing suitable for hiking.
- At least 1.5 L of water per person. There are no drinking-water points.
- Energy food, a charged phone and prescribed medication if needed.
- Helmet: lent by trail staff and returned at the end.
Documents and transport
- Bring identification, your timed entry ticket and transport receipts.
- You must arrive from Santiago del Teide on Titsa bus 355 and show the ticket; arrival by private vehicle is not accepted.
- Bring proof for reduced fares where applicable.
- Minors need identification and authorisation if travelling without their legal guardian.
Recommended
- Sun protection: hat, sunscreen and sunglasses.
- Walking poles, extra food and a bag for your litter.
Plan for the return too: if the boat departure is cancelled for safety, you may need to walk back. This is a demanding route.
